Erica Hample is an outdoor adventurer and ecologist who uses art to slow down and observe her surroundings. Her work is derived from many years of traveling the country, leading outdoor trips for high school students. During this time, art-making became the way she took some time to ground herself. She believes observation and attention are an act of love, and drawing is how she says thanks to these beautiful lands that support her lifestyle. Because of this, most of her work is plein air, drawn in the field in stolen moments amidst busy itineraries and student needs. Today, Erica is based in Boulder, CO and works as an Ecologist. She continues to use art to help her see and understand the ecosystems she calls home.
